Sew Tropical

Friends, I have been sewing.  I promise.  Problem is it has been COLD here, and icy, and dreary.  Those conditions don't make for very good photo shoots!  Then, add in the fact that my photographer doesn't get home til almost dusk, and well...we just haven't had a chance to capture any of the goodness, yet.

In the coming weeks you may think I have gone crazy, as you will see many warm weather clothes popping up.  Truth is, vacation season is coming up soon for us and I will be sewing for such.  As I looked through my closet I realized that I did not have a single short sleeve t-shirt without a stain on it.  This is the plight of the curvy gal.  Because gravity can be a real PITA when your boobs stick out farther than your neck will stretch.  So, expect to see a warm weather Centerfield Raglan or two, as well as lots of new patterns that I haven't sewn before.  I promise I am not a one trick pony!

I did order a few patterns from StyleArc recently.  Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get these in the mail?  I am hoping to have a few of them ahead of time so that I can sew them up for my vacay.  Momma needs some Bermuda Karen walk shorts!  My problem with a lot of my resort wear is the lack of pockets, and these babies are just the ticket for resort casual with pockets!

I think I should be able to get a really good fit out of these with the waist darting and the long length, but we shall see.  I love sewing welt pockets too!

Friends, are any of you heading somewhere warm to get away from the frigid temps?  What patterns if any will you be sewing for travel?

  1. No sewing for travel here, although I am going away at the end of the month for a meeting and will have a couple of hours to check out the fabric shops. I love these shorts. They are very "Sport Luxe". Style Arc pattens are very fashion forward and get good reviews but I am yet to try them. I love how they have such an inclusive size range. I am so hearing you about the stains thing. I have gignormous boobs and everything lands there. We buy a lot of stain remover in our house. Looking forward to seeing these beauts made up. They would look awesome in a lightweight suiting. Xx

    1. I like the idea of the lightweight suiting. Had not decided on what I was going to make them in, but that sounds great!

  2. I live in Texas and receive my StyleArc patterns in a little less than 2 weeks. They are so fashion current and worth the wait!

  3. I can't wait to see how those shorts turn out! I'm always looking for a great shorts pattern. It's a bit warmer than usual here now, so I'm not in the cold weather sewing mood and I may be making some warmer weather things soon, although we're not going on a big trip until spring :)

  4. I have the Karen shorts but not made them yet so I am very interested to see how yours turn out.

Had to laugh at the plight of the curvy gal. I call my chest my "catchment area" as it catches all kinds of food.
